Abstract

The Vietnamese construction industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years, with an average annual growth rate exceeding 8.0%. At this pace, the construction workforce is projected to reach approximately 12–13 million workers by 2030, of whom women are expected to account for around 10%. Despite their increasing participation, women are widely perceived to face greater challenges in career development than men within the construction sector. This paper aims to be an assessment of career development drivers in the construction industry from a gender perspective. A questionnaire survey was administered to 120 engineers to evaluate the influence of ten factors on career development motivation. An T-test samples was employed to examine gender-based differences. The results indicate that both male and female engineers exhibit a strong desire for career development, with no statistically significant differences observed between the two groups. Key factors exerting a substantial influence on career development motivation include self-development aspirations, opportunities for career advancement, company salary and benefits, and job security within the construction industry.
