Abstract

We review a recent technique for determining the entropy change accompanying certain classes of irreversible processes involving changes in the state of a system anchored to a reservoir. Time is introduced as a parameter to specify the corresponding entropy evolution of the system. The procedural details are outlined and their relation to the standard treatment of irreversible processes is examined.
