Description

The CAR (Creating Accessible Racing) is a team created within the EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service) program. The team was created in 2007 as a means to fix current cars that the Lafayette Soap Box Derby needed repaired. The team them changed its focus to deliver steering to the child but have a system in place where the safety driver (usually an adult or qualified driver) could easily correct the steering. Currently there are cars available that do not allow the child to steer but the ones that do require the safety driver to physically overpower the strength of the child. Our solution will allow the safety driver to disengage the child's steering to allow them to easily correct the steering.
