About This Journal
JHPEE is the journal of the Society for Human Performance in Extreme Environments (http://www.hpee.org/) and was first published in 1996. Originally serving as a newsletter for the society, the Journal reprinted relevant research from all over the field, as well as providing timely information on upcoming publications and conferences. With volume 5 in October 2000, however, the Journal narrowed its focus and began to publish original research articles and notes from the field.
In 2012, after several years of disrupted publication, the journal became an Open Access publication so as to better serve readers beyond the academy and in developing nations. Open Access publication is currently made possible by publication support from Purdue University, so the journal is free to publish in as well as read. No author fees are charged.
The ISSN for the journal is 1529-5168. It has been indexed in the following venues, although not all indexing is current due to a disrupted publishing schedule in the years 2006 - 2012:
