Description

In a recent questionnaire survey of Cambridge Scientific subscribers, over 90% expressed preference for the delivery of abstracting/indexing services through the Internet. This fact has been the rationale for Cambridge Scientific's Internet initiative. Thirty-six of Cambridge Scientific's databases, previously available in print and CD-ROM, are now searchable through the World Wide Web. More recently, these databases have been clustered into eight sets, each with a unified index, covering critical areas of research. (1) AIDS and cancer genetics, (2) aquatic sciences and fisheries, (3) biotechnology and bioengineering, (4) biological sciences, (5) environmental sciences and pollution management, (6) materials science and technology, (7) microbiology, (8) safety science and risk assessment. The presentation will demonstrate the significant advantages of World Wide Web searching: direct easy access, comprehensive coverage, and considerable savings in both time and cost.
