Rachel Candace Bright, Purdue University

Abstract

This is a curriculum designed for an introductory composition class at the undergraduate level, focusing on the presence of international students in these courses. It is designed within the framework of the course that I have been teaching at Purdue University for five semesters, English 10600 First-Year Composition. By analyzing seven main areas, situation, needs analysis, goals/means/outcomes, course organization, teaching materials, providing for effective teaching, and evaluation, it seeks to understand in what ways English Language Learning international students can better be served in mainstream composition courses.
